Publication Policy
The Ethiopian Journal of Public Health and Nutrition (EJPHN) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic publishing. Its publication policy is designed to ensure integrity, transparency, and quality in all published work.
Scope of Publication The journal publishes original research articles, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, case studies, and policy briefs in the fields of public health, nutrition, epidemiology, and related disciplines. Manuscripts must contribute new knowledge, advance scientific understanding, or provide practical insights for health policy and practice.
Editorial Independence Decisions regarding acceptance or rejection of manuscripts are made solely on the basis of scientific merit, relevance, and adherence to ethical standards. Editorial decisions are independent of external influence, including institutional, political, or financial pressures.
Open Access Policy EJPHN operates under an open access model, making all published articles freely available to readers worldwide. Authors retain copyright of their work, while granting the journal a license to publish and distribute it. This ensures that research findings are accessible to practitioners, policymakers, and the wider public without subscription barriers.
Ethical Standards All submissions must comply with international ethical guidelines. Authors are required to disclose conflicts of interest, funding sources, and ethical approval for studies involving human or animal subjects. Plagiarism, data fabrication, and duplicate publication are strictly prohibited. The journal reserves the right to retract articles found to violate ethical principles.
Peer Review Process Manuscripts undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process. At least two independent reviewers evaluate each submission for originality, methodological rigor, clarity, and contribution to the field. Authors may be asked to revise their manuscripts based on reviewer feedback before final acceptance.
Authorship and Contributions Authorship must be based on substantial contributions to the conception, design, data collection, analysis, or interpretation of the study. All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript and agree to be accountable for its content. Contributions that do not meet authorship criteria should be acknowledged separately.
Corrections and Retractions The journal is committed to correcting errors promptly. Authors may request corrections for minor errors, while serious issues such as misconduct or invalid data may lead to retraction. Retractions are clearly marked and explained to maintain transparency.
Archiving and Preservation Published articles are archived electronically to ensure long-term preservation and accessibility. EJPHN collaborates with indexing services and repositories to maximize visibility and citation of published work.
Publication Fees Authors may be required to pay publication fees to cover the cost of editorial processing, peer review, and open access dissemination. Fee waivers or discounts may be available for authors from low-income countries or for manuscripts of exceptional public health importance.
